It is so hard to get a nice picture of the both of us, but this is as close as we could come. ha ha

Peace and quiet

It was a lovely Christmas and it's good to get back to the peace and quiet. We had 11 to Christmas dinner and about 25 family and friends in and out on Boxing Day. I prepared food all day and night Christmas eve and Christmas Day and then handed the kitchen over to Arnie for Boxing Day, so it worked out that I got to relax Boxing Day. I had all 3 kids to Christmas Dinner, which hasn't happened for a couple of years, so that was a nice treat. On to the pictures. My Jimmy showing off his new Christmas tye - dyes (I don't know why the picture doesn't go where I want it) and Nicole and Mike with Candy Canes through their ear holes - yes real candy canes, really through their ears! It won't let me put in a picture of me and dear hubby so I will have to do another post.

If you guys have entered my sanctum here is your reward. It is a picture from my Birthday Party in 1965. Can you believe this! Me at the end with the cake, down the side in front of the fridge is Karen, Tina, Grace and Diane. Down the other side is Debbie, Donna and Laura. I know that Diane is a music teacher in Prince George and the last of heard from Grace (a long time ago) she was very successful with Birk's jewelers. At 22 she actually managed one of their stores. Laura, I know you work in electronics. Donna, not sure what you do, probably some thing fun. I have been a house wife and mother for so long, I don't know how to do anything else, so its back to school for me in March - Bookkeeping 101.

Silk Scarfs and Little Bags

I dyed some silk scarfs a couple of weeks ago and for a first effort they didn't turn out too badly. I will be giving them to some special ladies for Christmas. The next batch that I do next year, I am going to experiment with some stamping with acrylic paint and glue and few sparkling jewels to them.

Musical Pears

I made a lovely table runner for my dear friend Briar's Birthday. I call it musical pears because it is pears on front and music fabric on back. Briar is an accomplished pianist so I knew he would appreciate the turn of phrase. The idea for the runner came from a book by Jayme Crow called Split and Stitch applique. It has some gorgeous patterns.

We braved the snowy roads from Maple Ridge into New Westminster to bottle our wine. Arnie and I split three batches with Mike and Briar and it had to be bottled on Sunday, because we are all busy for the rest of the month until Christmas. It was a miserable day, a very early snowfall (we seldom get snow in December. )
The wine bottling was lots of fun and with 4 of us working hard we managed to get it done quickly.
After we finished making the wine, we went to a very nice Japanese restaurant for lunch. We had sushi and teriyaki and all sorts of goodies. We then drove Mike and Briar home and made our way back home on a snowy afternoon.

Fabric Dyeing

I did some fabric dyeing last week. I did some fabric that turned out really nice and some socks and T shirts for Christmas presents for my kids. I took a class last summer from Maya Telford and she is such a good teacher. She does fabulous fabric dyeing and she is always coming up with new ideas. So here are the fruits of my labour.

Pets

What better way to start than with pictures of my fur babies. We have 3 cats, Gretal, Zeppo and Ozzy. They all have their own personalities. We also have a dog Bobby, poodle, terrier cross. He tends to be somewhat of a pain, but he is part of the family.
