Art Studio tour

My little burg has art studio tours every year, but this is the first time I've gone. The art club publishes a little map and you can go all over Maple Ridge and see various artist's studios and art work. It was fun to see some of the studios. I only went to 7 out of the 15 or so, but for the most part, a lot of these artist's also had fantastic gardens. So it was like an art show and garden show. Most were painters, but one was a potter and one was a knitter with wool she had carded her self. I bought a little bowl and some art cards that were prints of the artist's original work. One of the artist paints scenery of places in Maple Ridge, quite a few of the dyke. I bought a little card of a scene that everyone in Maple Ridge is familiar with, a sandy area off the dyke on the river where you can swim and fish. I took my kids there many times when they were children and I have lots of happy memories of that place.

Bird Block

This is the block I made for one of my online quilt guilds - Mapleleaf guild. It is for The Quilt project that raises money each year for breast cancer research by auctioning off quilts donated by individuals and groups. There is a live auction and an online auction and the quilts are displayed at the Lay-z-boy galleries across Canada. They raise thousands of dollars each year and I have participated in this effort several times with different groups. A really cute original pattern by Cheryl Coville.

took the prize

I took the prize at my TOPS meeting on Monday. I had the most weight lost for March. A whole 3 1/2 pounds. Needless to say the rest of the women in my group did lousy for March. I have actually now lost 5 pounds since Christmas and I can now easily fit into my new pants and my tight jeans. Yay for me.

Your Thinking is Concrete and Random

You are naturally inquisitive and curious.

You're excited by new ideas, and you are a true independent thinker.

You are interested in what is possible. You like the process of discovery.

You are often experimenting, challenging old ideas, and inventing new concepts.

Rules, restrictions, and limit don't really work for you.

You have to do things your own way, and you can't be bothered to explain yourself.
