Baby quilt

Arnie's boss was to become a first time grandfather but unfortunately he passed away two weeks before the baby was born. It is a very sad time for their family, but hopefully the new little girl will give the family something else to focus on. This is the quilt I made for the baby

My little corner of the world part 3

This is just too much. Believe it or not this is hail. On March 26th we had this much hail fall in about 5 minutes. Then it snowed. We usually have balmy weather by this time of year. Well, maybe at least rain. We had snow for 3 days in a row. Not that it stuck to the ground. But it was unusual for this time of the year

Empty nest syndrom

My nest is now empty. I have been a mom for almost 25 years and I don't know how to do anything else. Even though my children are now adults, they are still my children. They define my place in the world and my purpose in life. I now have to find a new reason for being. I have always stayed at home, and quite frankly I am not really qualified to do any thing except maybe sling hamburgers. Some how I don't think that it would fill the void. So now on to the next stage of my life. Hubby says no to maybe adopting one of our kids friends. Ah well.

what kind of flower are you

"You have a shy personality. You tend to hesitate before trying new things or meeting new people. But once people get to know you, you open up and show the world what you are really all about."

2003 chanllenge quilt

I finally finished it!!! yay for me. This quilt was originally started in 2003. I went to the Western Retreat and took part in a fabric swap each of 25 people brought a meter of fabric that was then cut up into 25 pieces each about 4" x 10" . The challenge was to make a quilt incorporating all the fabrics and to be finished in September 2004. Well my top was done by 2004 but then languished for about a year and a half until I sandwiched it and started hand quilting. I then would pick it up occasionally and do some hand quilting, but it was slow going. In February, I had a look at it and decided that if I didn't machine quilt it , it would never be finished, so I ripped out all the hand quilting and got it finished up on the sewing machine in about 2 weeks. I am so glad it is done! The pattern is an adaptation of a Debbie Mumm pattern of the month.

ATC's

I have had lots of fun with my Artist's circle group making ATC's (Artist's Trading Cards). They are little cards that end up two and a half by 3 and a half inches. Week one I made some paper cards that looked like valentines. Didn't get week 2 and 3 done, but of course week 4 was close to my heart. I will have to get Briar to look at my camera, because the pictures dont seem to be coming out that good. Anyway week 4 was fabric atc's. I did one very traditional, sort of crazy quilt and the other I just slapped down fabric and fiber and put a couple of paper beads on it. The second one was way more fun!
