Some more pictures from Ridge Meadows Guild quilt show. The first picture is some very artsy quilts. The pears one is mine. The second picture is the viewers choice winner with her quilt. Way to go Denise! The third picture is my butterfly stained glass, showcasing fabrics dyed by my friend Maya and the last picture is some more pained quilts.

My little corner of the world 4

Two pictures of my back yard. 1stly - my gazebo. I spend more time in that through the summer than I do in the house. We eat dinner every night out there, we entertain company and family out there and just lazy around in it. It is my yard sanctum.
2ndly a before picture taken this morning. We are planning on turning this spot into a little oasis. Arnie took a stump out of the round section and then said maybe we could put a pond in there. But probably our banana plants are going in there. We have a fountain to go in that spot also ( small one) and then a ground cover of some sort (he's leaning toward gravel and stones, I'm leaning toward bark mulch or something organic) and then a few potted plans and voila! an oasis.

postcards

This is my latest card for the postcard swap. As I am sending to ladies in Spain and France and R.I. I though that I would try to make it a unique westcoast native symbol. The theme is wildlife and as the beaver is Canada's national animal, this is a native depiction of the beaver. It is made with craft felt and embroidery.

discharge dyeing

Its actually a process of removing colour instead of adding colour. I used bleach on a doily and got a beautiful result. I put the bleach on a stamp and got a great result also. I tried using a spray bottle and sprayed the bleach over some ferns, but it didn't turn out too great as the spray bottle was dripping, so I got big drip marks on the fabric. I ran out of black fabric, and as the fabric store had the kona black on sale, they didn't have any left. I will have to try again in a few weeks.

busy few weeks

Had youngest son for a visit before he took off for a holiday in Toronto. So far he's having a great time. While he was here we took a picture of him in an outfit he wore in grade 4. It was his favourite outfit so I had put it away for a future grandchild. Well he is so skinny that the outfit fits him again. Yikes!! How many people at 19 fit into an outfit they wore at 10 years old.
